James Gunn (director of the new Superman movie) on why Superman is important today. - “I think just culturally being able to place a little bit more importance on being a good human being … I think we’re surrounded by a lot of meanness … I think Superman is surrounded by a lot of meanness … but he stands against that grain and that’s what makes him rebellious. And in a way, in today’s world Superman is the edgier, rebellious character. He’s the one standing up for the values that most people are not.”
